Dog bed: How to choose the most suitable one?

Did you know that our dogs sleep about 12-14 hours a day? This means that our dog sleeps a lot more than we do, so he needs his own bed/space. Even if you allow him to climb into your bed, in any case a proper bed will give him a sense of comfort and security, a completely his own place to relax undisturbed.

In addition, the bed is a good starting point to train your dog to calm down and stay in a place where he will feel comfortable.

The thing is, finding the right bed for your dog plays a huge role. It's a market he'll either love or completely ignore. So what exactly should you look out for when buying something so precious for your loyal friend?

SIZE
The first and most important thing is the size of the bed . The general guide is: it can comfortably fit the entire length of your dog, taking into account that they usually curl up before bed.
It's also a good idea to measure your dog, as his measurements will show the surface he needs. While he's sleeping, start at his head and count down to where his tail starts. Thus, you will be able to immediately, simply by learning the dimensions of the bed, understand if it will be spacious for your dog.
SHAPE
The shape of the bed has mainly to do with how the dog sleeps, so it's a good idea to observe him, to find exactly what will make him feel completely comfortable.
Round beds are ideal for dogs who curl up into a ball when they sleep. Usually, this happens in smaller dogs, but each dog has its own preferences.
Rectangular beds suit dogs that stretch out and sleep on their sides or even on their backs.
The pillows are suitable for large - giant breeds that want more space, comfort and better body support
If, however, your dog chooses both sleeping positions, you can give him a rectangular bed with a high pillow all around, so that in any case it gives him the feeling of coziness.

BED MATERIAL
The material with which the bed cushion is filled plays a big role if your dog has orthopedic problems, so it probably needs a material with better support - anatomical, which is particularly comfortable and provides maximum support to the joints. In all other cases, polyester is a good hypoallergenic material, especially soft and fluffy.
It is also good to pay attention to the material that covers the pillow. For the cold winter, fleece, fur and wool are excellent and in fact, most are removable and machine washable - especially the pillows. If, however, your dog gets hot - especially in the summer - he will especially appreciate a cooling bed with a gel floor that goes into the fridge and cools down!
